This formation in Joshua Tree National Park is known as "Cap Rock." It received that name because the rock that is balanced on top of the pile is like a cap on the others. Joshua trees surround the rocks on all sides. In order to shoot the picture from straight on, I had to stand on the back of our van to elevate myself to right position.
